SCB 2026 is an international scientific conference on sustainability, circularity, and the bioeconomy, connecting science, industry, and policy. Abstract submissions are open until May 31, 2026.
SAN FRANCISCO, April 30, 2026 /PRNewswire-±¬ÁϹ«Éçapp/ -- The Sustainability, Circularity & Bioeconomy Conference (SCB 2026) will take place from August 18–21, 2026 in Quy Nhon, Vietnam, bringing together scientists, industry leaders, global experts, and policymakers to advance sustainable, bio-based solutions. Hosted at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and organized by Rencontres du Vietnam, an official partner of UNESCO, the conference will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration across academia, industry, and policy.
SCB 2026 will explore key themes in sustainability, circularity, and the bioeconomy, emphasizing the synergies between agriculture and forestry in biomass utilization. Topics include circular economy models for agro-forestry resources, integration pathways for biorefining, sustainable agro-forestry management, policy frameworks, innovative biomass processing technologies, and public–private partnerships to scale solutions. As a research-led event grounded in scientific excellence, the conference is designed to connect scientific knowledge with real-world applications while remaining open to a broad ecosystem of stakeholders beyond academia.
Participants will gain access to cutting-edge research, practical insights, and cross-sector collaboration opportunities. By bridging science with implementation, SCB 2026 aims to accelerate the transition toward sustainable, circular systems. The conference also highlights Asia's growing role in global sustainability efforts and emphasizes the importance of North–South collaboration to address shared environmental challenges and unlock inclusive innovation.
"The complexity of today's sustainability challenges requires more than isolated advances—it requires convergence," said Dr. Huy Quang Lê, member of the SCB 2026 scientific committee, Staff Scientist at Aalto University and Senior Expert at SciTech-Service Ltd., Finland. "SCB 2026 brings together science with practical perspectives from industry and policy, creating a space where ideas can translate into real-world solutions—particularly in regions where these transitions are happening at scale," added Ly Bui, CEO of Meet in Vietnam and co-organizer of the SCB conference.
The conference is supported by a distinguished international scientific committee composed of renowned scientists, including Prof. Dr. Panu Tikka (Aalto University, Finland), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bauer (Graz University of Technology, Austria), and Prof. Dr. Puneet Dwivedi (Clemson University, USA), ensuring a high standard of academic rigor and global relevance.
Confirmed speakers include Prof. Dr. Jesús Arauzo (University of Zaragoza, Spain), Prof. Dr. Eric Bishop von Wettberg (University of Vermont, USA), and Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien (Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Vietnam), who are widely recognized for their contributions to agroforestry and bioeconomy systems. Additional speakers will be announced in the coming months, offering further opportunities for researchers and practitioners to contribute.
Hosted in a world-class conference center along Vietnam's central coast, SCB 2026 offers participants a high-quality, immersive experience combining scientific rigor, networking opportunities, and a dynamic international environment.
Researchers, practitioners, and policymakers are invited to submit abstracts to present their work or perspectives at SCB 2026. Submissions are open until May 31, 2026 and will be reviewed by the scientific committee, offering selected contributors visibility among leading international experts. Early bird registration is available until June 30, 2026.
